Vaishali and Nayan are paper artists based in India. Recently, they embarked on a 365-day challenge, creating miniature birds using paper and watercolors. Each of their artwork begins with a sketch on paper, after which different layers are traced from the sketch on 200 GSM watercolor paper. Then, each layer is hand-cut precisely and they are ready for coloring. Each layer is hand-painted with watercolors with utmost precision. Then, to complete the look, all the layers are assembled together, giving it a 3D look. Each piece takes about 4 to 8 hours to complete, depending on the details of feathers and colors. The tiniest birds measure only 1.8cm in height. What the pair want to share is the beauty and significance of these birds, hoping that people will understand their importance in order to save them.
