However, one thing you tend to ignore is that this hatred is harmful to you more than it is to them. They might turn a blind eye, but you, you will keep wasting your positive energy on hate and will damage your own mental health. So how do you find a mid-way? We help you clear the dilemma.
1. Find something in common that you agree on
Whether it's supporting a cause or your favourite cricket team, you both need to find a common ground to talk about. Once you find that, talking with them, sort of becomes easier.
2. Win the audience
The crowd who is witnessing the entire hate drama between you and the other person should always be on your side. Therefore, always make sure that you don’t hate someone who is a people’s person because the crowd will always support them.
3. Talk in detail and to the point
Never make a vague comment or say a line without a justification. Always talk with the person you dislike about minor details and they will never try to talk more because the additional information won’t leave any space for questions. Talking to the point will give them the idea that you aren’t open for small talk.
4. Convey your messages via email
A curt email or a text is a great way to communicate as you won’t have to interact one-on-one. Constant email conversations will establish a code between you two and with time you will be comfortable with this form of conversation.
5. Give them a false time constraint
Look busy. Always. Tell them you don’t have time for small talk. They will then talk within the given time frame. The ideal time frame being two minutes.
6. Talk through them indirectly
If there is someone to mediate between you and them, you can always give your message via them. However, the chances of misunderstanding and miscommunication are higher as the message can be interrupted by the third party.
7. Keep the conversation for the end of the day
So that, those conversations don’t spoil your mornings and so you get done with it at the end of the day while leaving home.
8. When all else fails, pretend to fake a smile
When you deliver a fake smile, you slyly try to convey that you obviously don’t care. A fake smile kind of adds insult to injury.
