Mahira has received her primary education from Foundation Public School, Karachi and went to California for higher education at the age of 17, where she studied at the University of Southern California, but did not complete her degree.
Mahira also did a part time job as a Waitress in a restaurant while studying in US. During her studies in United States, Khan was a cashier at a Rite Aid store in Los Angeles and used to mop floors, clean toilets, run the till and shut the store at night.
