American women are proudly serving their country since the American Civil War. Before the laws were passed women used to disguise themselves as men and fight on the front but now those days are gone and today, around 170,000 American women are active in the army. They account for 15% of the total US military. 35,000 women are officers and commanders in the army already.

One of the most famous armed forces in the world is The Israeli Defence Force. It is the only country to have a rule that all women who are above 18 years and is childless will enroll in the army and this is the reason why women make up just 1/3rd of Israel’s army.
After early 1980, Israeli women moved way ahead of just positions away from the fire line. Now there are women in the Special Forces and the Border Police Force. But, most women can be seen in positions like nursing, radio operations, welfare work and course instructors.
