Danish women are serving in the army since 1934 but only in 1962, the Danish Parliament passed a law which allows women to volunteer and work in the regular military services. Even then women were not permitted to serve in combats. Over time women soldiers were put to go through various trials to test their capabilities during combats and finally in the year 1998 they were granted the right to enroll in the same manner as males. Today they account for 5% in the army, 6.9% in the navy and 8.6% in the Danish air force.

Women have played a crucial role in Germany’s army history. During the World War II half, a million female soldiers took up combat roles in nursing units and aerial defense. Today, the German military places no restrictions on females. Since 2001 German women are eligible for services in Special Forces like Tornado Fighter pilots and as Fallschirmjager.
