
Like every year, 2016 posed a lot of questions we had no answer to and invoked curiosity about events and people that ought to be quenched. Of course, whom else can we turn to, except for Google who has been helping us feed our insatiable minds and making us look smart.
Google released a comprehensive list of the most trending topics in India for 2016 and here are the results.
1. Trending searches: The winner (and rightly so) was the Rio Olympics 2016.

The summer Olympics featured 11,000 athletes from 205 countries and featured a refugee team. It was definitely the biggest highlight of this year.
Pokemon Go, the augmented reality game closed in on the 2nd spot.
2. Most searched People: Donald Trump.

Up until the point where the US Elections started making vociferous news, P.V Sindhu had dominated the ‘most searched person’ category after her astonishing Silver medal for India in badminton.
3. Most Searched Movie: Sultan.

Sultan created quite a lot of buzz for Salman’s staggering transformation as a middle-aged wrestler.
Sultan beat Rajnikanth starrer Kabali to secure the first spot. Akshay Kumar’s Airlift and Rustom also made it to the list.
4. Most Searched Bollywood Actor (Female): Disha Patani

Disha Patani’s amiable personality made her the most searched on Google for 2016 after her debut in the biopic ‘M.S Dhoni : The Untold Story’ followed by Urvashi Rautela and Pooja Hegde.
5. Most Searched Bollywood Actor (Male): Sushant Singh Rajput.

Playing India’s most loved cricketer in a biopic has its own perks. Sushant Singh Rajput who played Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his biopic closed in on the most searched actor.
He was closely followed by Harshvardhan Kapoor who made his debut with Mirzya this year.
6. Most Searched Dress: Priyanka Chopra at the Oscars.

Priyanka Chopra was a sight to behold in the white, sheer Zuhair Murad couture gown. While she was busy representing India at the Oscars, we were busy googling her dress!
